A "Header", is your Signature Entry; it says a lot about your persona, and too, helps to set the nature of the page. There are (literally) thousands of different designs. When you bring a Web-Page to the Internet, you want to be as "interesting" as you can, and the Header gives you the prime opportunity to set the ambiance' (atmosphere).
